Fundamentals and Applications

The one-day program Quantum Computing for Engineers and Scientists: Fundamentals and Applications offers an introduction to the fascinating field of quantum computing. Participants will gain a solid foundation in quantum information science along with a deeper understanding of the capabilities and limitations of quantum computing.

The course begins with an overview of the fundamental principles of quantum information science. Participants will then be presented with selected quantum algorithms and explore how they unlock the power of quantum computing, providing a glimpse into the vast potential of this technology.

The course contrasts this potential to the reality of quantum computing, by exploring the hardware and applications used today. Participants want to gain an understanding of the challenges involved in building, running, and scaling quantum computers.

Finally, participants will gain insights into the quantum computing roadmap and will learn about the latest advancements in the field, eg, in quantum simulation and quantum error correction.

After the course, participants will:

  • have a basic understanding of quantum information science.
  • have learned the key terms used in quantum computing, which enables them to follow technical discussions.
  • be able to distinguish between the hype and reality of quantum computing.
  • have developed an awareness of quantum computing and realistically judge its present and future potential.

Why this program?

First insights into Quantum Computing for Engineers & Scientists:
The course provides first insights into the field of quantum computing, introducing its potential, practical reality, and prospects. The program was designed by experts who are at the forefront of this rapidly evolving field. With a strong focus on both theoretical concepts and practical applications, the program will equip participants with the knowledge and skills to understand the power of quantum computing

Running a code on a real quantum computer:
Participants get the opportunity to run code on a real quantum computer. The experience provides them with practical experience in quantum computing and allows them to explore the capabilities of a real quantum computer.

Taking part in real time hands-on experiments & a lab tour:
The programs offers an interactive learning experience through a combination of lectures, discussions, and practical exercises.

Taking advantage of the newest didactical methods:
Didactics experts present complex topics with the help of visualizations.

Broadening their network:
Throughout the course, participants will have ample opportunities to engage in networking. Additional events after the course offer a long-term connection to the local quantum technologies landscape.

Benötigte Vorkenntnisse:

Participants should have a background in natural/computer science. Prior experience in quantum technologies is optional.
